Leica RM 2155 Microtome
- EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION
The Leica RM 2155 is a fully automated rotary microtome built for sectioning resin embedded and paraffin specimens. This microtome is ideally suited for a wide range of histology applications with the ability to be used for Quality Control as well as in the industrial materials arena. The Leica RM 2155 has the ability to run in motorized mode, or end user manual sectioning mode. Running the rotary microtome under motorized mode allows you to quickly reproduce sections in mere seconds. The instrument incorporates a number of safety devices including an emergency stop botton, safety handwheel, protective guards and knife guard on the knife holder. The consistent uses of the safety features built into the Leica Biosystems RM 2155 along with careful observation will protect the user from accidents, or personal injury. In addition, you should always lock the handwheel prior to making adjustments to the knife and specimen. The handwheel can be locked in any position using the locking level found on the side of the microtome base. The Leica RM 2155 runs on standard 115 volt power and comes with two T3.2A fuses.
The Leica RM 2155 Rotary Microtome is designed to conform with the strict UL and VDE safety standards. Moreover, the Leica Biosystems RM 2155 comes with an optional cover cap which can be hooked up to an illuminated microscope used for magnification needed for analyzing samples. This specimen feed system with zero backlash and maitenance free cross roller guides and step motor operated coarse feed system are located in a dust proof plastic cover. Section thickness and secetioning speeds are selected by control knobs. The controls for this microtome include Trim Step function with the Trip Step button. Specimen retraction is visually indicated and can be turned off if required. The retraction amount varies with the sectioning speed. The Leica RM 2155 rotary microtome control panel is integrated in the front of the microtome with display, LEDs and function keys for all key controls are ergnomically positioned to eye level. Two motorized and one manual sectioning modes are available for this microtome as well. Motorized sectioning is started and stopped by the foot switch, or joy stick controller.
The Leica RM 2155 has a cut section range of 0.5 microns to 60 microns and speed can easily be adjusted to cut not only paraffin embedded specimens, but hard industrial materials as well. The rotary microtome comes with an electronic joystick making it much easier to operate, rather than using the conventional foot pedal. System include a standard hand wheel to control speed and cutting features. The Leica RM 2155 microtome comes with a blade cassette along with clamp plate used for precise cutting and trimming of specimens. The rotary microtome has a disposable knife holder which can be used with low and high profile blades, used for the motorized coarse feed. Contact us today to learn more about our Leica RM 2155.
