Description
BioRad Gel Doc XR Imaging Systems
The Biorad Gel Doc XR Imaging System provides users a high-resolution, highly sensitive method of visualizing, documenting, and analyzing protein and nucleic acid gels, blots, and macro arrays. This imager’s CCD detection technology and modular design support multiple detection methods and allow processing a wide range of samples. These systems include a darkroom hood, CCD camera, software-controlled motorized lens, UV and white light illuminators, and a filter slider with a standard filter.
The XR+ is compatible with an XcitaBlue UV-protection shield. The Bio-Rad Gel Doc XR+, when using an xcitablue filter, also protects DNA electrophoresis samples so users can increase cloning efficiency without loss of sensitivity.
The collected Biorad Gel Doc images are corrected for flat fielding and imaging artifacts for consistent, reproducible results. The systems feature powerful software for analyzing experiments, optimizing for fast results, and enabling quantitative comparisons in seconds. Users can save and recall each step for repeatable, reproducible results. Reports can be customized and organized to suit users’ needs quickly and easily. This imagining system is an excellent addition to methods involving PCR, purification, and electrophoresis systems, enabling image analysis and documentation of restriction digests, amplified nucleic acids, genetic fingerprinting, RFLPs, protein purification, and characterization.
