Biorad Genepulser Xcell Electroporation System

The Biorad Genepulser Xcell Electroporation System provides a modular electroporation system focused on bacteria and fungi. This electroporation system comes with either a PC (pulse control) module, which can be used for applications that require high-voltage pulses to be applied to small sample volumes, or a CE (capacitance extender) that helps extend the time constant of the pulse over a range of 25–3,275 µF. The Gene Pulser Xcell delivers up to 3000 V and comes with a Shock Pod cuvette shocking chamber with easy one-handed operation. X-Cell cuvettes, available from Bio-Rad, offer an excellent pulse delivery method, are sterile, and have several gap widths to choose from.  This microbial system is compatible with any electroporation buffer. It has a convenient preset protocol library, including most bacterial and mammalian cell types, as well as immortal and primary cells.

The controls for the Gene Pulser are simple and use a graphical interface. It can store up to 144 user-defined programs, which can be manually entered or edited for all parameters, into existing programs. It also has an optimization protocol that lets you find the ideal condition through incremental steps. The Xcell will even store the parameters for up to 100 experiments for recall.
