Description

GE ImageQuant LAS-4000 Luminescent Image Analyzer

The GE ImageQuant LAS-4000 Multi-Mode Imager is a robust digital imaging system of gel or membrane samples or films. This imaging system uses epi or tans light on gels stained by EtBr and exposes a sample repeatedly, incrementally, or by programming exposure schemes. The Image Quant is a modular flexible system that can use a combination of light sources and filters to achieve the desired technique, including upgrading to an IR fluorescence capability available from GE.

The wide linear dynamic range of the LAS-4000 avoids multiple film exposures by accurately quantitating both weak and strong signals over four orders of magnitude. This quantitative biomolecular imager’s F0.85 43 mm LAS high sensitivity lens has a 21 × 14 cm field of view with a 6.3-megapixel image resolution thanks to the innovative diagonal pixel configuration. The camera for the Image Quant is cooled to -25°C (maximum -35°C), allowing users longer exposure times so there’s less background and yielding more precise quantitation of weak signals.

The GE ImageQuant LAS-4000 Multi-Mode Imager is capable of Quantitative Western blotting, UV fluorescence, and Infrared fluorescence when used with suitable reagents, optional colored epi illuminators, and filters installed. This Image Quant system comprises a dark box, camera, lens, and a five-position filter wheel that gives users the flexibility to change methods. The robust ImageQuant LAS 4000 software easily guides users through programming focusing, filters, illuminators, and exposure time without opening the cabinet. The automated iris of this imaging system responds quickly to changes in focus and other settings for quick turnaround.
