The Thermo Heraeus Multifuge X3R is a refrigerated centrifuge that provides users with increased capacity, and high versatility a suite of rotor compatibility, and temperature control for sensitive samples. This Thermo centrifuge comes in either a benchtop model in the Multifuge x3R  or the floor centrifuge model Multifuge x3R FR. The X3R has a capacity of up to 4 liters, and a minimum of 23 rotor and adapter configurations to meet just about any need, sold separately through Thermo. The aerodynamics of the rotor line has been optimized to reduce drag, lower noise, and reduce the energy needed by the motor and the amount of cooling needed overall.

The space-saving design of the X3R Benchtop Model helps conserve valuable workspace in the lab, while the Heraeus Multifuge x3 fr Floor model can be wheeled to where it’s needed as a freestanding centrifuge. The ergonomic design of the low-profile lid and curved features mean comfortable sample handling for both models. Closing the lid can be done with a single finger thanks to the motorized latch system. To keep rotors secure and protect the centrifuge, the Multifuge X3R features smart spin technology, that identifies the rotor and adjusts to the ideal accelerating, braking, and checks for load imbalance.

The digital control panel is user-friendly, and gives users detailed information about their run, showing both the set and actual values for their parameters. From this control panel, users can set their speed, up to 15200rpm, their time up to 99hrs and 59mins, or hold. The microprocessor control also holds up to 99 programs, with 5 direct access buttons upfront to hold the more frequently used protocols. Users can also select their temperature from -10 to 40°C, as well as a pre-cool function, reaching 4°C in 15 minutes from an ambient of 23°C.
