The Molecular Devices SpectraMax Plus 384 is a standard for UV-visible microplate reader absorbance, providing ultrafast, full spectral range detection for cuvettes, 96-well, and 384-well microplates, with the only temperature-independent method for path length correction. The patented multi-channel optical design of the SpectraMax Plus 384 Absorbance Microplate Reader mimics a dual beam spectrophotometer, measuring each sample in the plate directly, eliminating measurement error due to variations in light output between optical fibers on other instruments for more reliable data reporting. The nine-channel system of this plate reader delivers both high precision and speed when reading cuvettes, 96-well, and 384-well microplates for endpoint measurements, kinetic assays, and spectral scans.

The optical system of SpectraMax Plus 384 Microplate Reader is built around a monochromator, which allows for selection of up to six wavelengths at a time for absorbance detection in the UV-visible wavelength range (190 nm - 1000 nm). The narrow bandwidths of the Spectramax 384 delivers increased measurement accuracy and linearity over the widest range of assays, including DNA quantitation in the UV range. This plate reader also has a spectral range of 190-1000 nm that’s tunable in 1nm increments. This microplate reader relies on the innovative pathcheck sensor built to measure the optical pathlength or depth of samples, normalizing the well absorbance to a pathlength of 1cm. This unique sensor also allows for different sample levels in this plate reader, so pipetting can be less accurate, the sensor will automatically correct for difference in volume. The Spectramax plus 384 is an ideal choice for DNA quantification, colorimetric assays, ELISAs and EIAs, as well as Enzyme Kinetics and Drug dissolution profiles.
