The Molecular Devices SpectraMax M2 Plate reader is a dual-monochromator, multi-detection microplate reader with a dual-mode cuvette port and 6-384 microplate reading capability. This easy-to-use multimode plate reader is designed to handle the workflow of multiple research projects. Detection modes include absorbance (UV-Vis Abs) and fluorescence intensity (FI) and have optical performance comparable to a top-of-the-line dedicated spectrofluorometer, or spectrophotometer. The SpectraMax M2 can do Endpoint, Kinetic-based assays, Spectrum, and area-well scanning read types and is also equipped to do PathCheck. Path check allows homogeneous and heterogeneous microplate assays to be performed in this flexible system.  In addition, the system can also act as an ELISA Reader and comes with built-in assays that are easily accessible through the SoftMax Pro software.

The SpectraMax M2 reduces the cost of expensive filters by using a dual monochromator platform. This eliminates the need for any add-on excitation or emission filters.  The filter wheel is already built inside so there’s no need to swap or change them out.  The two scanning monochromators define the optimal excitation and emission settings, allowing a quick click-through process to change out any methods, or fluorophores, making your process more efficient. The built-in PathCheck Sensor then measures the optical pathlength of samples within a microplate and automatically normalizes the well absorbance to a cuvette equivalent of 1cm.  This is like using 96 or 384 cuvettes simultaneously.  This technology gets rid of standard curves and detects compounds with a known extinction coefficient, allowing absorbance to calculate the concentration within the sample.

The Multimode reader comes with a built-in cuvette port that allows easy conversion and optimization of very-low-throughput assays into medium-high-throughput microplate assays. The Molecular Devices SpectraMax M2 allows faster, more precise results and reagent savings.
